On Thursday morning, Manchester United confirmed the worst kept secret of the season by making Ole Gunnar Solskjaer permanent manager on a three-year deal, appeasing many fans and players in the process. It may now be clear what the home kit in his first full season, after a picture was leaked this week.

The ever-reliable have shared photos of the prospective new shirt which is again designed by Adidas and is obviously the famous red colour. It certainly appears a very stylish number, and not too dissimilar to their current shirt. That shirt really has split opinion because of the black trim and the fact that the kit overall, which was a split from the traditional red shirt, white shorts and black socks.
Having had their kits manufactured by Umbro for years in the nineties and early-2000s, the club then switched to Nike in 2002. They oversaw an era with one FA Cup title, six Premier League titles and a Champions League crown.

In 2015, two years after Sir Alex Ferguson retired and a year after Louis van Gaal replaced David Moyes, they switched to Adidas. Jose Mourinho, van Gaal’s replacement, was himself replaced by Solskjaer in December.

United fans will be hoping they can wear it in the Champions League next season. With Barcelona in the quarter finals to come, they have two routes through in the competition.
Heading into the weekend’s fixtures, which see United host Watford at Old Trafford and Arsenal face Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night, the Gunners are just two points ahead in fourth place.
There are also now real doubts over which players will be wearing the shirt, whether the leak is genuine or not. Solskjaer has already admitted plenty of agents have been in touch to put forward their clients, with England starlets Declan Rice and Jadon Sancho on a reported wish list for the club.
Alexis Sanchez has been linked with a move away after failing to impress in the 15 months since joining from Arsenal, while Ander Herrera’s contract expires in the summer. David De Gea and Paul Pogba are likely to be linked with summer exits if United can’t qualify for Europe’s premier club competition.
