Many people were surprised to see Robbie Williams headlining Russia’s opening ceremony for the World Cup on Thursday.
The British pop star sang some of his biggest hits in front of the Luzhniki Stadium crowd before Russia ran out 5-0 winners over Saudi Arabia.
But he caused a stir by making a rude gesture towards the camera, something England defender Kyle Walker pointed out was similar to an incident involving teammate Dele Alli.
So nice of Robbie to say hello to @dele_official ! pic.twitter.com/R5jWVeR73F

Alli was banned for one match by FIFA in September after being seen making the same gesture on camera in a World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. He claimed he was aiming it at Walker.
England kick off their World Cup campaign against Tunisia on Monday, with reports on Friday suggesting Gareth Southgate could start Ashley Young, Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson.
