Jurgen Klopp reveals the best player he's ever managed
Jurgen Klopp has quite a pool of footballers to go through when picking the best he’s ever managed after a successful stint as Borussia Dortmund manager.
Not to mention the entertaining group of players he has at Liverpool.
But when it came down to it, Klopp opted to pick Mario Gotze, who he brought into the world of first-team football by handing him his debut against Mainz in 2009.
It was under the guidance of Klopp that Gotze blossomed and became one of the football world’s most exciting prospects. He won two Bundesliga titles before joining Bayern Munich — though it was only a matter of time before he would return to Dortmund.
Speaking at a Q&A event with Soccer Laduma in Cape Town, Klopp was asked about the best player he had worked with and replied by picking Gotze, who he says was “unbelievable”.
This should get speculation circulating for January and the summer transfer market. Liverpool have been linked with a move for Gotze previously, but nothing concrete ever happened.
Klopp may want to change that next summer, especially if Liverpool lose Philippe Coutinho. Gotze would be a comforting replacement for fans.
