Jose Mourinho offers warning to Man United's creative star
Jose Mourinho wants more from creative star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and thinks that the player needs to provide more goals and assists for Manchester United.
That’s according to ESPN, who claim that Mourinho is ready to tell the player he needs to kick on, despite saying he understands him far better this season, and last term was disappointing at times – due to both his and the player’s lack of understanding when it came to each other.
Given the flying start United have had to the season, it makes sense Mourinho does not want his players to rest on their laurels, and with the Champions League set to commence as well, it comes as no shock that he is pushing his players to perform.
United are targeting the title this season, and Mourinho is thought to have suggested to his players the Premier League and the FA Cup were their main targets, and ones he expected to win – and then the last eight of the Champions League was attainable and would be a bonus.
While it seems Mkhi has not yet fully convinced Mourinho, one player he seems to have been won round by is Juan Mata, who is of course someone he sold while at Chelsea – yet now is someone Mourinho would call a key player and who ends up on the teamsheet nearly every week.
Generally Mourinho’s summer signings have done well – and it’s Nemanja Matic who Mourinho thinks can help Mkhi the most – yet with that comes more responsibility for the player – who is expected to deliver more because of the increased freedom.
