Wayne Rooney may have inspired Everton to a sterling recovery against Swansea City on Monday night, but he left Goodison Park on the receiving end of a comeback from Sky’s Jamie Carragher.
The Toffees were in action against the Premier League’s bottom club, and after going a goal behind, Rooney helped inspire them with a penalty and an assist, while also missing another spotkick. Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on hand to save his blushes with the rebound.
Carragher was covering the game as a regular pundit on Sky’s Monday Night Football alongside special guest John Terry. In the post-match interview, Rooney couldn’t resist a dig at the former Liverpool defender.
He told the crew, anchored by presenter Dave Jones, that he’d seen a photograph of the trio in their casual wear before the show, stating Carragher’s shirt was “horrific”.
But he must have instantly regretted it when Carragher quickly replied with “so is your hair line!”
What a shutdown. Could it be round two when Everton take on Chelsea on Sky this Saturday?
