Inter Milan weighing up audacious swoop for Arsenal star Alexis SanchezPublished August 15, 2016
Arsenal fans really do hate the transfer window…
Fans in North London have become rather accustomed with seeing their side being linked with a number of big name stars during a transfer period, only to see such moves fail to materialise.
The likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Julian Draxler, and Riyad Mahrez have all been linked with a move to the Emirates this summer, but so far, Granit Xhaka has been the club’s only signing.
Whilst Arsenal fans hope that there side can add quality between now and the end of August, it now looks like Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger’s priority may shift from signing big name players, to convincing his current stars to stay at the club.
According to a report from Spanish broadsheet Don Balon, Serie A side Inter Milan are looking to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez with an audacious £69million bid.
Sanchez’s future at the Emirates is unclear as he enters the final two years of his contract, with the Chilean yet to indicate he wants to sign a new deal.
The report adds the Gunners ace is open to the move, having already played in Italy for Udinese before sealing a switch to Barcelona.
Whilst there should indeed be concern surrounding the Chilean’s long-term future in North London, an imminent move to Inter doesn’t make much sense.
Sanchez would command wages in excess of £7m a-year, something which could prove too costly for the Italian side, even with new Chinese owners, and with Inter going through a transition of sorts, under new coach Frank de Boer, it would be unwise for the striker to swap North London for Milan at this present moment.
Advice for Arsenal fans: Take this story with a pinch of salt.
