Iker Casillas says this man should replace Buffon at Juventus
Iker Casillas has recommended Juventus replace Gianluigi Buffon with AC Milan’s 18-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma when the former finally retires, per Goal.
Buffon is now 39, and although he is gearing up to face Casillas’ beloved Real Madrid in Saturday’s Champions League final, attention will soon turn to who will replace him in Turin.
Donnarumma, 18, has been a shining light for Milan in recent seasons, but with his contract expiring in a year, he could be available for as little as £20million, and the vultures are reportedly circling.
He is the man Casillas, who left Real in the summer of 2015 after 25 years with the club, believes should step into the legendary Buffon’s shoes once he does decide to step away from the game.
“They should take Donnarumma. Leave him on loan for a year or two until Gigi retires and then bring him to Turin,” he told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“If I were to bet on a young goalkeeper it would be him. There’s no-one else in Europe, there isn’t another 18-year-old with so many qualities.
“Obviously he still has to mature for a year or two, but his qualities are obvious.”
