Gerard Pique tells Liverpool what to do over Coutinho
Barcelona’s attempts to land Philippe Coutinho has been one of the stories of the summer and now Gerard Pique weighed in on the situation – and told Liverpool what’s what.
The defender spoke about Neymar leaving Barcelona, and made it clear that if a player wants to leave and a club have the money to land them, it is pretty much a done deal.
Liverpool have of course held firm so far when it comes to the sale of Coutinho, making it clear they want to keep him – all the while the player has been injured, ill and handed in a transfer request.
The defender has claimed Coutinho is doing everything possible to force through a move to the Camp Nou – certainly not something Liverpool fans will want to hear at all.
Pique told the Daily Mail: “I think players still want to join Barcelona, and they are showing that is the case with Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
“One by putting in a transfer request and the other with his actions at Dortmund. It suggests that they are both delighted about the idea of coming; they want to come.
“The problem is, we sold Ney and the clubs know we have the money from that, and the market is the way it is.
“I don’t think it’s because the players don’t want to come, they are keen to come to Barca, but right now sign whatever player the club wants, it seems to cost more.”
