Paul Pogba may have won the World Cup less than a month ago, but he stepped up when it mattered for Manchester United on Friday, and Leicester City legend Gary Lineker took to Twitter to praise him.
United kicked off the new Premier League season with a 2-1 win over the Foxes. Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw, two players publicly criticised by boss Jose Mourinho in the last, scored for the hosts, with Jamie Vardy claiming a consolation.
Pogba’s overall performance impressed despite his exploits in Russia cutting short his break, a fact not lost on Lineker.
Have to say…well I don’t have to but I will….Paul Pogba’s performance after everything that’s happened to him over the last month or two, as well as the lack of pre season training, has been truly remarkable. Superb. 👏👏

Even Mourinho couldn’t hide his delight with the Frenchman’s display, calling him a “monster”.
Pogba was a monster,” Mourinho said in his post-match press conference.
“We thought maximum [he would play] 60 minutes, but he managed more than 80.”
It was a much needed victory after a summer of discontent at Old Trafford. Mourinho was not happy about their failure to sign a centre back.
