Gareth Bale suggests this massive improvement to the Premier League
Gareth Bale has advised that the Premier League should introduce a winter break to ensure players do not suffer from burnout, something he experienced as a player.
Most European leagues now have a two-week break and the Premier League has failed to implement anything similar.
Instead, the English top-flight has their biggest period in the winter time and many players are said to suffer from burnout.
Bale, one of the Premier League’s former stars, explained how it can benefit players.
“Obviously, the winter break is massive. In England, you’ll play four or five games when we don’t play any,” he explained.
Gareth Bale: "‘It is great for my family. The weather’s nice. We joke but it does help with the aches and pains."— El Madridismo (@ElMadridismo93) March 6, 2017
“You don’t get many rest days and it really does burn you out for a long time after that.”
Gareth became the most expensive player in world football when he swapped London for Madrid and since then the player has went to win two Champions League’s and has become arguably Los Blancos’ star man.
Now, having been asked whether he felt the move was right, Bale was confident in his decision.
“With two Champions Leagues in the cabinet, I think it was the right decision to come here,” he explained.
“I’m enjoying the different culture and the different challenges and it is great for my family.”
