Nicklas Bendtner has been sentenced to 50 days in prison for assaulting a taxi driver in Copenhagen.
The former Arsenal striker, 30, who also played for Sunderland and Juventus, is now playing his trade for Rosenborg. He reportedly punch the driver’s jaw before kicking him in the early hours of September 9.
All this occurred because he was allegedly being pursued having left the car with his girlfriend and refused to pay the £5 fare.
Having apologised for the altercation in September, Bendtner admitted striking the man but claimed it was because he felt threatened.
The Denmark star was ordered to pay £176 in compensation, while the driver was fined £353 for using his phone while on the road and not wearing his seatbelt.
Bendtner’s solicitor says he has appealed the sentence.
