You follow one of the most iconic names in football by becoming Liverpool captain. Then, faith in you as a player and leader continues when England caretaker manager gives you the armband for a World Cup qualifier after dropping Wayne Rooney.
If that paragraph was read out 5-years ago, England fans would be excited about the future. But standards have dropped, and we’re talking about Jordan Henderson, not one of the biggest names in world football.
POLL: To get the ball rolling this morning, who should be @England captain?— Freebets.co.uk (@freebetscouk) 12 October 2016
Henderson probably felt untouchable last night against Slovenia but it wasn’t a performance to remember for the former Sunderland midfielder. If anything, the way Eric Dier and himself performed was appalling and may make people think twice before shouting for Rooney to be dropped.
The footage below shows an over confident Henderson try a pass without looking in to the direction he plans to send the ball. As a result, a Slovenia player reads the Liverpool captain like a book and intercepts before running towards Joe Hart on a one-on-one scenario.
One of the worst no-look passes we've ever seen from Jordan Henderson...pic.twitter.com/nnIDbmdtlU— BigSport (@BigSportGB) 12 October 2016
If it wasn’t for good goalkeeping, Henderson would be splashed across the back pages this morning. He got away with it but not on my book.
