Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has taken to social media in comical fashion, after the Ivorian, was linked with an apparent medical at Championship side Aston Villa.
Sources in the British press claimed on Monday that the 38-year-old – who now plays for Montreal Impact was close to agreeing a deal to sign at Villa Park, and was in Birmingham having a medical.
Aston Villa Owner Tony Xia had announced that the club were closing in on a ‘world class’ striker, sending the social media world crazy with anticipation that Drogba was indeed that man, with other sources claiming that Drogba’s strong relationship with Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo was the main reason for the striker’s reported decision to join the club.
But unfortunately for Villa fans, it seems that this was indeed just a rumour, as Drogba, who has scored 8 goals in 15 MLS games this season, took to Twitter to swiftly deny reports that he is close to joining the Midlands club.
Judging by his comical reaction it seems like he is not the man Villa are chasing.
