Liverpool may be steamrolling towards their first Premier League title in 30 years, but previous challenges haven’t gone as well as this one. In 2013/14, the Reds came out of nowhere to launch a genuine bid under Brendan Rodgers, but a defeat at home to Chelsea towards the end of the season proved to be their downfall; that game would become known for one incident, which is still remembered by Liverpool fans snd celebrated by neutrals.
Steven Gerrard was a real legend at the club, a homegrown midfielder who went onto captain them to every trophy going. Every trophy, that is, except the Premier League. There is no doubting that he deserved one, and it is a great source of regret for him that he never got his hands on a winners medal.

To make matters even worse, he was the man responsible for a slip against Chelsea, which allowed Demba Ba to score and ultimately strike the key blow in Liverpool’s dreams. That was despite a win over eventual championship winners Manchester City a few weeks earlier.
It is a moment that has gone down in folklore. Ba himself took to Twitter to troll the Reds and their former captain on Saturday morning. Quoting another tweet asking people what they would do if an opponent slipped in a game, showing a very sporting moment when a player kicked the ball out despite being faced with an open goal. Ba said he would score, much to the joy of many who replied in the comments.
Liverpool will go onto win the Premier League this season, but the memory of Gerrard and that slip will never stop hurting.
