Deal Agreed: Barcelona to complete stellar £148m signing within 48 hours
The clock is ticking for Liverpool’s Coutinho as the summer transfer window ends tomorrow.
Barcelona are ready to make one last push to secure the Liverpool star who has been linked throughout the summer.
Barca are reportedly ready to splash £148m for the Brazilian, according to Yahoo Sport, despite Liverpool rejecting three bids for the attacking midfielder, £72m, £90m and £118m respectively. Jurgen Klopp has been adamant that the 25-year-old will not be sold, but a switch could be on the horizon as the Reds are pursuing Thomas Lemar.
Reports claim Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group dropped their public insistence that Coutinho would not be sold, and could profit with this massive move. Liverpool are delaying any announcement until they land his replacement, which appears likely in the next 24 hours.
Coutinho has yet to play for Liverpool this season due to alleged back problems and have been pushing for a switch after handing in a transfer request earlier this month. This potential move to Nou Camp would make him the second highest transfer fee, following Neymar, who joined Paris Saint Germain this summer for £198m.
The Brazilian could join Ousmane Dembele, who completed a move yesterday to Barcelona. Coutinho is believed to be the final piece to the Spanish giants puzzle as they hope to topple rivals Real Madrid in La Liga.
