Cristiano Ronaldo's brilliant response to homophobic jibe

Not content with gaining the upper hand on the pitch during Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Atletico Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo also got the better of the verbal exchanges, too, as he delivered a superb response to Koke’s homophobic insult.

With tensions frayed due to the visitors’ overwhelming dominance on the pitch, the Atleti midfielder’s anger got the better of him as he served up a bitter tirade calling into question Ronaldo’s sexuality.

Spanish broadcaster Cope Radio reports that after being incensed by the Real Madrid star’s over exuberant celebrations, Koke called Ronaldo a “f*ggot”.

As the pair confronted each other, it is believed that the Ballon d’Or favourite’s riposte was as follows: “I might be a f*ggot… but a very rich one. A***hole.”

A quite brilliant reaction to a homophobic jibe, then, although as with Koke, Ronaldo was booked for his part in the altercation.

The 63rd minute incident also seemed to stir something in the 31-year-old, as he went on to complete a stunning treble to down his city rivals on their own turf.

The outstanding performance reinforces the former Manchester United man’s status as the huge favourite for this year’s Ballon d’Or, however, we wouldn’t mind betting he also took pride in putting Koke in his place for the horrendous piece of homophobic abuse too.
