Cristiano Ronaldo has put pen to paper on an incredibly lucrative long-term contract with Nike that’s being dubbed a contract for life. DN reports that the deal will be similar to the one the sports brand has with LeBron James.
To ensure that they keep their highest-profile client, Nike will pay Ronaldo €24 million every year for the foreseeable future.
That seems like a ludicrous sentence. However, Nike themselves would only confirm that the deal was ‘long-term’ instead of putting an expiration date on it. Spanish site AS assured readers that it was essentially a lifetime contract.
I have a great relationship with Nike, I have great friends here,” said Ronaldo, in a statement sent to the media. “We work as a family This is my brand.” He signed the agreement just a day after penning a new five-year deal with Real Madrid.
Even by his lavish standards, it’s been a good week.
