Juventus have struggled for form since securing the title in Italy, and that was clear in their 2-0 defeat to Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday afternoon. They have just one win in six games and will be desperate to see the season end so they can rebuild for next year, whether manager Max Allegri is in charge or not.
The biggest signing of their season was Cristiana Ronaldo, who was originally brought in from Real Madrid in a bid to help them win the Champions League this season, but they were knocked out by a mightily impressive Ajax side in the quarter finals.
Ronaldo did score in both legs, but Juve haven’t been as dominant as in previous years. Roma caught them at a good time, as they put them to the sword late on in the game, courtesy of goals from Alexandro Florenzi and Edin Dzeko.
The former was cruelly made a joke of by Ronaldo during a coming together on the pitch, with the Portuguese making fun of Florenzi’s height. The pair made up afterwards and it appeared they laughed about it too, but it was just an example of the rivalry that was on the pitch that day, but the Italian international clearly got his revenge when his goal.
Allegri has been heavily linked with a move away from Turin this season, with former Juventus boss and his predecessor Antonio Conte linked with a return. Manchester City nose Pep Guardiola is said to be a very bold target, but that looks unlikely. It is not confirmed that Allegri will be leaving, either, though.
Roma will be looking for a new boss in the summer, once interim boss Claudio Ranieri leaves in the summer. His replacement is not yet announced, but Jose Mourinho has been linked. It will take a lot for any team to catch Juve in Italy, but the Bianconeri could be set for something of a transitional phase if they do have a change of manager.
