Chelsea Win The Internet With Epic Transfer Related Tweet
Chelsea’s transfer ban meant they couldn’t sign a player in Frank Lampard’s first window last summer, but things have changed. After the ban was halved and lifted, the Blues have been linked with a number of first team players. They include Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, but they have made a move off the pitch by securing a new sponsor from the start of next season, mobile phone network Three.
This will not be the news that could get the Blues fans excited. Recent results have suggested they may need some reinforcements, with Newcastle and Arsenal both striking late to grab a win and draw respectively over the last week. A potential injury to top scorer Tammy Abraham could force them into the market for a striker, with speculation of interest in Lyon striker Moussa Dembele refusing to go away. Michy Batshuayi is in and around the squad, but is struggling to really stake claim, while Olivier Giroud is likely to be sold this month.

But Chelsea’s Twitter account broke the internet with their excellent joke in reaction to the news of the sponsorship deal. With a play on words from their name, they tweeted: “when you wait 24 days for a signing and Three come along at once”. While it got over 10,000 retweets, a lot of Chelsea fans were upset because they believed the club was making light of the fact that no new bodies have arrived for the first team as of yet.
Time is running out. Chelsea are still looking strong in the race for the Champions League, but they reinforcements before the window shuts and simply must act quickly over the next week in order to be ready for the run in.
