Chelsea & Real Madrid Interest In Dimitri Payet Grows: West Ham Fear Loss of French InternationalPublished June 19, 2016
Chelsea and Real Madrid are reportedly hot on the heels of Euro 2016 star Dimitri Payet and the Daily Mirror claims that West Ham are fearful they may lose the 29-year-old after just one season at the East London club.
Payet has been in show-stopping form this summer and his rich run of form has led to growing interest in his services and despite being tied down to a long-term Hammers contract it’s entirely possible that the former Marseille, Saint-Etienne and Lille man could leave for pastures new.
After bagging a dozen goals in his first season in English football Payet has made a huge impact at the Euro 2016 finals, first netting a superb injury time winner against Romania before capping off another great display with a well taken goal against Albania, and one wonders if West Ham can keep hold of the £10.7m signing.
Chelsea and Real Madrid clearly have the pulling power necessary to lure Payet but of the two possible locations one would imagine that a move to the Spanish capital would prove most likely, not least as the West Ham man would face the wrath of Hammers fans if he were to move to their arch-rivals from Stamford Bridge.
Zinedine Zidane will be hard pressed to find room for Payet in his starting eleven given the sheer level of quality available to the Real Madrid boss.
The likes of James Rodruguez and Isco have both been left warming the bench, such is the level of talent at Zidane’s disposal.
A move to Chelsea would be contentious to say the least and the West London side do not have European football to offer Payet.
