Chelsea ready to trigger £35m release clause to land wing wizard as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen Blues attackPublished October 13, 2016
Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid wide-man Yannick Carrasco according to the Daily Mirror.
The 23-year-old Belgian international signed a five-year deal with his La Liga employers back in 2015 but that deal includes a very temping £35m release clause that has alerted Blues boss Antonio Conte.
The Italian manager has not been all that impressed by his side’s performances this term and is keen to bring in more direct running creativity to help boost his options in the final third.
Carrasco netted in last season’s Champions League final and is an explosive attacker with a great deal of potential and though the former AS Monaco man is said to be happy in the Spanish capital he may nonetheless be tempted by a move to Chelsea, which would certainly lead to a massive pay-hike.
Chelsea’s current wide-attacking options have proven largely ineffective this term with stars Eden Hazard and Willian failing to make a real impact, so much so that long-term bit-part player Victor Moses has even forced his way into Conte’s side.
