Chelsea ready to allow goalkeeper to leave if one thing happens
Chelsea are reportedly willing to allow Thibaut Courtois to leave the club for his dream move to Real Madrid.
That’s as long as they get £51 million and Alvaro Morata as part of the deal. That would of course allow them a huge amount of cash to recruit another keeper to replace Courtois – though if they could get someone as good remains to be seen.
Not only that, but the Blues would then have a top striker at their disposal – and with links between China and Diego Costa failing to go away, that may well be the key factor in Conte sanctioning the move.
Chelsea are coasting towards the Premier League title, and have a welcome break as the FA Cup comes back, and while they are in action during the cup competition, it will give Antonio Conte a chance to rest some of his top players and allow the fringe players a chance to show what they can do.
Asmir Begovic has also been linked with a move away, and Chelsea are linked with a move for Craig Gordon as they try to fill the void that would be left by the Bosnian.
Allowing Begovic to leave is one thing, but allowing Courtois to go would be another thing altogether, and it’s hard to see how the fans would be happy about it.
