Chelsea manager set to pressure board for one reason
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will be asking his board to step up and provide more money for transfers according to Phil Thompson, who said that the already annoyed Blues manager will be far more irate after seeing Liverpool shell out £75 million on Virgil van Dijk.

Thompson said that Conte wanted more money in the summer – which was of course the case, with the Chelsea boss moaning time and time again about his squad – and now they’re in the Champions League again, there’s no denying it has affected their performances in the league – and contributed to dropped points.
Not only will Conte want to strengthen, he will also want to see the players who he has doubts over either fall into line or move on – with David Luiz case in point, and with Real Madrid linked to Eden Hazard, the Chelsea boss will want that speculation resolved too.
“They’re a fine team but I think if you scratch beneath that main 11 there’s not a lot there to come through,” he told Sky Sports.
“Antonio Conte needs strengthening in all areas of his team, with David Luiz out of favour.

“They are another side who were probably looking to entice Virgil van Dijk, so Conte will probably be questioning why Liverpool were able to outbid themselves with such an outlay and they may feel disappointed they missed out there.
“I think that will upset the manager and the fans as they don’t want to be left behind.”
