Chelsea & Liverpool among Premier League quartet to show interest in highly-rated forwardPublished January 18, 2017
Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and Bournemouth are among a clutch of clubs from around Europe interested in signing Genk attacker Leon Bailey.
But the quartet will have to compete with the likes of Roma and Bayer Leverkusen if they want to snare the highly-rated teenager.
Rated in the region of £20 million after some superb performances for Genk over the past six months, Bailey had been expected to leave the Cristal Arena over the summer- yet interest in an immediate deal has quickly grown following his exploits for the Belgian side in the Europa League.
The Jamaican was one of the stars of the group stage, netting four goals in just six games as he confirmed himself as one of European football’s top young talents.
And now a number of clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Roma and Leverkusen are contemplating early bids to stave off competition for his services, according to the Daily Mail.
Genk are believed to be reluctant to sell prized asset Bailey at this stage in the campaign- preferring a transfer during the close season- however, any offer that includes the youngster staying in Belgium on a temporary loan deal could prove tempting to the Jupiler League side.
Bailey is next in action against Eupen on Saturday.
