Chelsea legend Eidur Gudjohnsen offers to play for ChapocoensePublished December 05, 2016
Chelsea legend Eidur Gudjohnsen has offered to play for Chapocoense after last week’s tragic air crash killed 19 first team players and 57 other people. The club is in mourning but has received wonderful support from the football world. Now the unattached Icelandic veteran could move to Brazil.
Gudjohnsen has been unattached since leaving Molde in August 2016. He only signed a two-year contract with the Norwegian side in February but they agreed it was for the best to terminate the deal. Now 38-years-old, his abilities have diminished but he would undoubtedly be a useful squad member.
He tweeted: “Out of respect i would play for @ChapecoenseReal if they have a place for me! If not just to play with @10Ronaldinho again #ForcaChape”
His comments about his former Barcelona teammate Ronaldinho would appear to confirm that the attacker has also offered his services to Chapocoense. A rumour did the rounds a few days ago that he and Juan Roman Riquelme were both willing come out of retirement for the grief-stricken club.
