Chelsea legend "devastated" to have suffered serious foot injury
Former Chelsea defender John Terry has confessed his devastation at suffering a broken metatarsal for Aston Villa in their defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday. The Villains went down 2-1 at Villa Park on Saturday and Terry, 37, was forced off after 20 minutes with the injury. It was a huge blow for Steve Bruce’s side, for whom he had played every minute of their campaign so far, and he will now miss a number of weeks or even months.
Timing could hardly be worse with a busy schedule of Championship fixtures around Christmas and New Year. Villa had been in good form up until the weekend, climbing into the playoff places, though that is still below expectations after a summer of big name signings, not least Terry.
The signing of the Chelsea legend after he finally departed from Stamford Bridge was deemed a surprise, but he had spoken of how Bruce had made it clear how wanted he was in the West Midlands.
