Chelsea interested in Leicester City midfielder
Chelsea are interested in signing Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to Sky Sports News.
Drinkwater is among a list of midfielders Chelsea are considered to replace Nemanja Matic, who joined Manchester United on Monday.
Chelsea have already bought Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, but Antonio Conte wants to sign another midfielder.
Bayern Munich starlet Renato Sanches was a target for Chelsea, but the Bundesliga club’s manager Carlo Ancelotti has now said the Portugal international will stay at the club.
Last summer, however, Drinkwater signed a four-year contract with Leicester City, so the 2015-16 Premier League champions are under no pressure to sell the player.
A move would offer Drinkwarer an opportunity to partner up with N’Golo Kante again. The French midfielder has been a success at Chelsea since leaving Leicester City for £30million a year ago.
