Chelsea have failed to lure Italian star in Deadline Day swoop
Premier League leaders Chelsea’s hopes of adding to their squad before the transfer window shuts took another hit as an enquiry for Inter’s Antonio Candreva was turned down.
According to Talksport, Blues boss Antonio Conte made the call as he continued to be frustrated in his attempts to add a winger to his league title-chasing squad.
The report claims interest in Candreva’s teammate at the San Siro, Jonathan Biabiany, and Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore failed to yield a deal. Conte may have to settle for what he has after this latest development.
Candreva, 29, only signed for Inter from Lazio in the summer and the Serie A heavyweights have made it abundantly clear they have no desire to lose such a key player with only hours of the window remaining.
Whether the Blues need any signings is up for debate, as they currently sit eight points clear at the Premier League’s summit ahead of a trip to Liverpool on Tuesday.
