Chelsea could be closing in on Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri after it was revealed on Monday that the Italian club had an agreement with Carlo Ancelotti to take over from his compatriot.
Sarri has been linked with the Chelsea job for a number of months now but there has been little movement over his position and the Stamford Bridge club still have an FA Cup final to play before Antonio Conte likely leaves the club.
CORAL HAVE YOU COVERED!
Though, there was a major breakthrough on Monday when CalcioNapoli24 revealed that the Italian club and their infamous chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis had agreed a deal with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Their report claims that the two have a verbal agreement that the Italian would take over at the club should Sarri announce that he would like to leave the club for Chelsea or any other club that makes a move.
Maurizio Sarri's philosophy: "There is this idea that to win you sometimes have to play worse. I cannot imagine this. It's a premise I don't understand. How can you win playing worse football?" #Napoli— Vieri Capretta (@VieriCapretta) May 13, 2018
That certainly suggests that the club feel that Sarri will leave and with Conte’s future looking in even more doubt after the 3-0 loss to Newcastle, the London club will almost certainly make their move official soon.
What is almost certain though, is that Antonio Conte will not be in the Chelsea hot seat next season.
