Chelsea boss Antonio Conte taunts rivals Wenger & MourinhoPublished January 05, 2017
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has taunted the club’s title rivals by claiming they are bitter about the fact the Blues currently occupy the top spot in the Premier League table.
Arsenal boss Arsenal Wenger bemoaned the fixture list over the festive period after his side only managed a draw at Bournemouth (3-3), while Manchester United supremo Jose Mourinho highlighted the fact his former club had an extended break compared to their title rivals.
However, the Blues failed to take advantage and extend their lead at the Premier League summit to eight points after losing 2-0 to London rivals Tottenham on Wednesday night, but speaking before his side’s defeat at White Hart Lane, Conte said his complaining rivals are just jealous of his side.
Conte said: “I can reply that I didn’t do the fixtures,
“I think that’s the simple reply. The advantage is one more day of rest over Tottenham
“That’s the advantage, if we want to speak about advantage. But for me the advantages are other things.
“During a season different situations can happen when you can have advantage – but for sure not this.
“I think that now they [Chelsea’s rivals] are angry for our position [in the table] not for the fixtures.”
