Chelsea & Arsenal set for massive transfer battle as Premier League giants chase world-class forwardPublished July 23, 2017
Premier League rivals are looking to sign top class footballer Thomas Müller ahead of the Community Shield on August 6. Both Arsenal and Chelsea have expressed interest in the Bayern Munich striker, and hope to land the German international.
Arsenal are desperate for more firing power with links of Alexis Sanchez leaving to PSG. The Chilean winger has one year remaining on his contract with the Gunners, but believed to desire a move away from London.
Chelsea splashed big money for Alvaro Morata as Diego Costa is expected to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after his public falling out with Antonio Conte. The Blues hope to seal one more big signing as they look to defend their title and compete this season in the Champions League. Müller would provide the Italian boss with a lethal combination in the attacking third.
Bayern Munich’s CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge claims the German striker is not for sale, and is under contract with Munich until 2021. However, the signing of Colombian midfielder, James Rodriguez opened new talks of a potential departure.
The World Cup winner was far from his best last season, struggling for regular first-team action under Carlo Ancelotti, netting only five goals and 12 assists last season. A move could revitalise Müller and return the striker to his previous form being one of the most prolific strikers in the world
With the Community Shield, just 17 days away, the London rivals hope to seal the Bayern champion away from the Allianz Arena.
