Carlos Tevez is going to become the world's best-paid player after China movePublished December 16, 2016
Carlos Tevez is set to become the world’s best-paid footballer when he moves to China. Eurosport relayed reports coming from Argentina that the former Manchester United striker was going to twenty times what he was on at Boca Juniors. He was more than likely Boca’s highest-earner too, which goes to show how crazy this transfer is. For Tevez, who turns 33 in February, it’s a no-brainer.
If it feels as though we’re writing this type of article on a regular basis, it’s because we are. The best-paid rankings are regularly changing thanks to the financial football boom in the Far East. At Shanghai Shenhua, Tevez will now earn €40million per year. That’s nearly €770,000 per week. By our estimation, that makes him the world’s best-paid player by a country mile. It’s an absurd amount of money and having signed a two-year contract, Tevez is going to rake in €80million.
“At Boca they know that Tevez will go and is sealing a contract with Shanghai Shenhua for two years for $84 million,” sports daily Ole said. There’s no mention of a transfer fee but we’d imagine that Boca will be getting a hefty sum for their veteran forward who scored twice in their recent 4-2 win over River Plate.
