Barcelona are fighting tooth and nail to retain their La Liga title this season and Luis Enrique is apparently scouring Europe to find new additions to help boost his side’s push to wrestle domestic domination back from unbeaten arch rivals Real Madrid.
The Nou Camp side six points behind the Bernabeu side and have seen their recent additions fail to impress, leading to growing speculation that new targets have been earmarked.
Andre Gomes has flattered to deceive when called upon whilst Samuel Umtiti has struggled with injury and Paco Alcacer has proven ineffective as a back-up forward option.
It’s therefore no surprise that new additions are on the horizon and the following four could well help Barcelona to get back on track.
Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) £40m
The 21-year-old right-sided German international is seen by Barcelona as a replacement for Aleix Vidal according to The Sun.
The youngster has made a real impact for club and country this season and could be used effectively in an attacking role.
Hector Bellerin (Arsenal) £40m
The Spanish international is of course a Barcelona youth team graduate and is another player Enrique is keen to secure.
The 21-year-old has recently signed a new long term Gunners contract but may not prevent Barcelona’s advances, especially if Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge fails to garner silverware.
Angel di Maria (PSG) £46m
The Argentine international has got his career back on track in the French capital but would surely be tempted by a move to Barcelona despite his previous Real Madrid affiliations and Vital Football claim Enrique wants the former Man United flop.
Anthony Martial (Manchester United) £50m
Vital Football also claim Luis Enrique is chasing Old Trafford forward Anthony Martial, though one wonders quite where the French international would fit into plans at the Nou Camp given the quality currently filling the front-three spots at Barcelona.
Martial had a strong first season at Man United, netting 17 goals in all competitions, but has struggled to make an impact under Jose Mourinho and would presumably jump at the chance of a move to the Catalan giants.
