Football fans are in the midst of a glorious spell of meetings between Barcelona and Real Madrid. After the Blaugrana knocked Los Blancos out of the Copa Del Rey, they are due to meet in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday night. Not that the fire needed stoking any more, but the Barça Twitter team has done that by mocking their next opponents.

Two Luis Suarez goals helped the club to a 3-0 win in Madrid after they drew 1-1 at Camp Nou in the first leg. They will now meet Valencia in the final, but their attention will remain on the capital and Real ahead of another clash this weekend.

Not that a resurgence in the title race is very likely at all, but another victory for the visitors would put them 12 points ahead, with Atletico Madrid in between, steely ending any hopes Santiago Solari and his team may have of lifting the league trophy in May.

One man who hasn’t featured prominently in these recent games but surely will be a key figure in this next one is Lionel Messi. The Argentine is the top scorer in El Clásico history by some distance, netting 26 times, and has been the scourge of Real both home and away for quite some time. His shirt could be seen being pulled in midweek by Luka Modric, and Barça reacted brilliantly by claiming he should just buy a Messi shirt st their online store.

While this is hardly likely to affect Modric seriously or bother him at all, it has given many fans a laugh ahead of what promises to be a really entertaining evening. There has not been a 0-0 between them for many years and goals are almost guaranteed. Real will be desperate to exact revenge and will be pleased that they have an opportunity so soon after their last defeat, but the worrying thing is Barcelona didn’t play very well and still took their chances and recorded an impressive win.

What’s for sure is that it’ll be very interesting to see how the home and, and Modric in particular, deal with Messi after his club’s latest putdown on social media.
