Barcelona Told to Pay £44m for Brazilian After Leaked Photo Shows Midfielder in Blaugrana Colours
It appears Barcelona have already clinched a new signing before the transfer window has reopened, after a picture Gremio midfielder Arthur wearing the Blaugrana shirt was leaked online.
The 21-year-old Brazilian is extremely highly rated in his homeland and has been linked with a move to the Camp Nou for a while. Although Atletico Madrid are also keen to sign him, it appears Barça have won the race for his signature.
A pic of Arthur (Grêmio) with Barcelona's sporting director Robert Fernández has also leaked. Grêmio say there are no offers from Barcelona yet. pic.twitter.com/Mk1XGtuWVC— Paulo Freitas (@Cynegeticus) December 2, 2017
His Gremio contract expires in 2019, and the club have insisted his £40million release clause must be met if he is to move. But they have also claimed no deal is yet in place to see him leave.

“Arthur has a contract with Grêmio and a release clause of £44m,” Romildo Bolzan told RAC1. “If they pay that we can’t do anything but there is no conversation or negotiations open.”
Reports claim Gremio will take legal action against Barcelona for ‘tapping up’ their star, but it does now seem inevitable that the Catalans will get their man.
As a player who idolises Andres Iniesta, Arthur may be the perfect replacement for the Spain legend.
