Barcelona target's agent refuses to quash speculation over future
Marco Verratti’s agent has refused to deny the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder could leave the club this summer, but admitted talks over his future were planned, per Sky.
Verratti, 24, has been at PSG since 2012, developing into one of Europe’s best midfielders while in Ligue 1. The Italian has attracted interest from a number of clubs, not least Barcelona, who are believed to see him as the heir to Andres Iniesta.
PSG are currently second behind Monaco in the league and suffered a humiliating Champions League exit at the hands of Barça. Verratti’s agent, Donato Di Campli, was not prepared to say much on his future.
“I don’t feel like saying anything,” he commented. “A lot of wrong things have been said. I want to leave things calm, PSG aren’t in the happiest moment. We’ll ask for a meeting with the club to discuss Marco’s future.
“The club has said that Marco won’t leave, so we have to respect the will of the club.
“We will, however, make a point of the situation after the Coupe de France final.”
Reports suggest a huge clear-out of the squad is being prepared, while boss Unai Emery could be sacked.
