Barcelona to offer £97m for Premier League star: Squad Number Offered, Contract Terms Set as Nou Camp side seek to replace Neymar
Barcelona are preparing a second bid for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho. The Spanish giants identified the 25-year-old midfielder as the ideal replacement for Andrés Iniesta, who is in his final year of his contract as well as Neymar, whose expected to make a shock move to Paris Saint Germain.
Coutinho agreed to a new deal with Liverpool last season, in hopes of keeping the Brazilian at Anfield through 2022. However, Barca are in advanced talks with the midfielder ahead of the 2017/18 season.
A potential MSN breakup at Nou Camp would open a spot for Coutinho to make a name for himself at the club. Luis Suárez has been in talks with the South American playmaker in hopes of convincing him to add depth to the squad after falling short in La Liga and the Champions League last season.
Barca could splash around £97m to land the rising star, who scored 35 goals and 29 assists since debuting in February 2013 for the Reds. Coutinho also scored the match winner in their Premier League Asia Trophy victory over Leicester.
Liverpool would be at a loss after finishing last season in the top four. With the Champions League on the horizon, the team will need to fight back to keep the Brazilian at the club.
The faithful Reds supporters are desperate to keep him, while the fans at Nou Camp are ready to welcome him to the Catalan capital.
With another big signing looming, the prolific star could be wearing a Barcelona jersey in a manner of days.
