Barcelona confirm new manager following Luis Enrique's departure
Barcelona have confirmed the manager who is set to take over from Luis Enrique next season as the club look to get back to the top of European football.
The club have confirmed that now former Athletic Bilbao manager Ernesto Valverde will take over at the Camp Nou this summer.
The announcement comes after Luis Enrique’s final game in charge of Barcelona in which the club won the Copa del Rey with a win over Alaves.
Now, former Barcelona player Valverde is tasked with the job of taking the Catalan club back to the top of world football after a lacklustre season in their own high standards.
Real Madrid pipped their rivals to the La Liga title even after a late scare while Barcelona’s poor performances in the Champions League did not help their season.
A poor first leg against PSG had alarm bells ringing but the second leg in which the club made one of the best comebacks in Champions League history.
The club then fell to a disappointing loss against Juventus in which demonstrated the loss of their magic touch.
Now, with Valverde at the helm, Barcelona will be looking to earn back the La Liga title as well as performing well in the Champions League.
