Barcelona confirm crazy signing of midfield star for €40m
Barcelona have confirmed the signing of former Tottenham flop Paulinho in a deal worth an incredible €40m.
The Brazilian midfielder became Barcelona’s fourth most expensive signing in history in an incredible deal to bring the playmaker in from Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande.
The player will have a medical with the club on Thursday before the deal is formally completed but it is not expected that there will be any problems and that Paulinho will be a Barcelona player by the end of the week.
Barcelona have been chasing the player for a number of months now but were unwilling to pay the clubs valuation of Paulinho but eventually gave into demands of the Chinese club and paid the full €40m asking price.
That 222m must have cleared because Barca have bought Paulinho for 40m. Bit like pay day when you buy stuff you don't really need or want

The Catalan giants have set the players release clause at a whopping €120m in case the players career really does take off at the Camp Nou but the deal still seems extremely strange and has been the talk of social media on Monday.
Paulinho left his native Brazil for Tottenham back in 2013 but his career did not take off in North London and left the club in search of first team football and ended up as one of the first players to move to the Chinese Super League.
Barcelona will now be looking to get deals for Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele over the line.
The former has already submitted a transfer request in the hope of completing a deal soon while Dembele has chosen to leave Germany during Barcelona’s negotiations with Dortmund and has been suspended from the club and fined.
