Barcelona could complete superb £130m Coutinho deal within HOURS: Squad number assigned and five-year contract tabled
Barcelona are planning a final bid for Philippe Coutinho, after Liverpool turned down £119m on Friday.
While the Reds claim the 25-year-old playmaker is not for sale, the Catalan giants continue to push for Neymar’s replacement.
The previous bid had only £80m guaranteed, with the remaining add-ons included a payment if Coutinho wins the Ballon d’Or. The Blaugrana will need to offer a bigger down payment if they hope to seal the move.
Coutinho signed a 5-year contract this year, but has expressed his interest in returning to La Liga. The dynamic Brazilian midfielder hopes to join Barca and submitted his transfer request earlier this month. However, Jurgen Klopp is committed to keeping him at the club, and part of Liverpool’s future.
The Brazilian has been a key figure for Liverpool since arriving at the club in 2013, scoring 13 goals and seven assists last season. He created 65 chances and led the club to a top four spot in the Premier League.
The Blaugrana have executed a deadline, as they hope to finalise a deal worth £130m to secure Coutinho’s move to Nou Camp. Liverpool chiefs have been informed the offer will be withdrawn by tonight, according to reports with the Daily Star claiming a deal could be in the offing.
Reports that Coutinho could be offered Arda Turan’s number seven squad number have been circulating for months and could well be about to become a reality.
