Arsenal star reveals major contract talk updates and it's not good
The bad news just keeps on coming for Arsenal fans, after Mesut Ozil claimed that he would not be signing a new contract in the near future.
As Arsene Wenger hinted at, the contract talks between the player and the club have been put on hold – with the idea to pick them up come the end of the season.
While the future of Alexis Sanchez looks slightly more uncertain – with the Chilean often looking at odds with manager Arsene Wenger, Ozil has offered his support to the Frenchman and has made it clear that Wenger’s future will have a big say in if he stays or leaves come the end of the season.
There is of course the option that Ozil stays for another season, and runs down his contract, or takes talks with the club into 2018.
That might not be the ideal situation for the Gunners – in fact far from it, with Ozil and potential buyers for the player being able to hold them to ransom.
Of course, keeping Ozil may depend on if the club can finish in the top four, with other sides keen on the German – and a move to Manchester United and a link up with Jose Mourinho even mentioned.
That would be the worst possible scenario for Arsenal – and would certainly add fuel to the already flaming fire.
