Arsenal star holds exit talks ahead of £40 million move away
Arsenal are facing another struggle to hold onto Alexis Sanchez, only days after Arsene Wenger claimed the player would be going nowhere.
It may be the case that Arsenal can now avoid selling Alexis to Manchester City, who are of course domestic rivals, but it seems that Paris Saint Germain are determined to make a real statement across Europe this summer, and want to add Alexis to a squad that looks like also containing Neymar.
That will cost them around 40 million euros – for Alexis that is – with Neymar around 222 million euros – and it blows any notion of FFP out the water.
Goal think that Alexis has met with PSG bosses, and the club have assured him they will make a bid that Arsenal will not be able to refuse.
Not only that, but it seems that the Ligue 1 side have agreed to pay Alexis in excess of £400,000 per week, with some reports claiming they’re willing to go as high as £500,000 – far more than the offer he got from China.
It may make more sense for Arsenal to sell an unhappy player and cash in – although Arsene Wenger is more stubborn than most, so that may be easier said than done.
