Arsenal set for truly stunning move to sign Chelsea star in January transfer window
Arsenal are reportedly readying a truly shocking move to re-sign Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas according to the Daily Express.
The 29-year-old Spanish international has made just two Premier League starts this term and is said to enjoy something of a frosty relationship with new Blues boss Antonio Conte.
However it’s worth noting that Fabregas did put in a great display during Chelsea’s weekend win over Man City and could therefore be set for a more prominent role in first-team action.
This source believes that the capture of Fabregas in January will help to keep Arsenal’s title push on track and will help the North London side cope with the enforced injury absence of Santi Cazorla.
Arsene Wenger apparently wants to welcome Fabregas back to Arsenal though a large portion of the club’s fans do not hold their former favourite in high regard after his move to Chelsea but would perhaps grow to re-capture their fondness for the player if he were to prove pivotal come May.
Fabregas made 305 appearances for Arsenal during his previous spell at the club, netting 59 goals in the process, between 2003 and 2011 before he moved to Barcelona in a £30m deal.
Arsenal are well and truly in the Premier League title hunt and their 5-1 mauling of West Ham on the weekend was further evidence of that fact and Fabregas, when at his best, is still a very effective performer.
Conte has opted to use a central midfield pairing of N’Golo Kante and Nemanja Matic but even so he may not be prepared to lose a strong alternative option in January, especially to a title rival.
