Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has taken to Twitter to reassure a young fan caught crying during their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City on Sunday.
Goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva gave City their first trophy under Pep Guardiola and perhaps their first in a treble, topping off a dominant display at Wembley.
The Gunners were heavily criticised for their performance, with Sky Sports’ summariser Gary Neville accusing some players of “giving up”.

It all came to a head when a boy in the Arsenal end was spotted crying by a TV camera, with his image now going viral to sum up a horrendous day for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Elneny posted the picture with a caption he hopes will help the fan and others feel better, but it is unlikely to appease the large numbers of disgruntled supporters.
