Arsenal make move for £50 million rated Man United target
Arsenal are set to spark a bidding war with Manchester United after expressing serious interest in Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Both Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho are aware that they need their defences strengthened this summer, and they’re not the only top managers keeping an eye on the Saints star.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with the player, and there could well be a huge bidding war come the summer should all four top sides decide to make a play for the star – who would be open to leaving Southampton for the right club and the right offer.
Arsenal’s problems at the back have been well documented, yet it’s Manchester United who are now desperate for a centre back after seeing Marcus Rojo injured for a long period of time, and with Jose Mourinho having little to no faith in Phil Jones and Chris Smalling’s mental strength to play through injuries.
Should United manage to get into the top four, you’d have to think they would present a more attractive option than Arsenal, and with Jose Mourinho as manager, they must be confident of getting their man.
