Arsenal and Liverpool enter bidding war to capture Real Madrid man: Forward frozen out as Mbappe nears Bernabeu transfer
Karim Benzema could make his way to the Premier League, as Kylian Mbappe is on the verge of going to the Bernabéu. Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Pérez is reported to be willing to offload Benzema to help finance the young Monaco striker.
Arsenal and Liverpool are in a race to secure Benzema, according to Don Balon. The 29-year-old winger has two years remaining on his contract, after joining the club in 2009. He’s been a prolific goal scorer and key part of the BBC, which includes teammates Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite the trio working brilliantly together over the past few years, Benzema could be sold for the right price. The Frenchman made 48 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 19 goals. He’s helped the club win two La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies during his time, however, his form has been in question under Zinedine Zidane.
The Madrid boss will need to make some more important decisions as the club already sent Álvaro Morata to Chelsea for around £70m. If Benzema is offloaded to the Premier League, the current Spanish champions will have more cash to splash for a marquee winger.
The two English clubs hope to snap up Benzema ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League season. Both clubs are in great need for an additional striker as they hope to topple the current champions Chelsea.
