Arsenal linked with PSG star after falling-out with Unai EmeryPublished October 25, 2016
If you can’t stand the heat then back away from the rumour mill – it’s getting hot in here. The reason for the high temperatures stems from Paris Saint-Germain’s goalless draw with Marseille at the weekend. It was anything but a ‘Classique’ as both sides cancelled each other out in a match without any shots on target. Seriously.
Aside from dropping two points in a fixture they’ve dominated over the last few years, there was another negative for PSG: The angry exchange between Marco Verratti and Unai Emery. The Italian midfielder was substituted after 60 minutes and couldn’t hide his bafflement. “What is this? Am I bad? Did I say something bad?”, he said in a video that’s gone viral. You can see it in the tweet below.
Commenting on the issue, Emery said: “It’s normal that the players get angry. They want to play and are frustrated with the score. But it’s my decision and I do what I think is best for the team. It’s character and it’s good.” But a lot of people are reading more into this outburst from the usually mild-mannered Verratti.
The Mirror link Arsenal to the midfielder today, claiming that they see him as an ideal replacement for Santi Cazorla. There’s no shortage of competition for midfield places, though, with Jack Wilshere being sent out on loan, and it would be a surprise to see Cazorla usurped given that he’s only 31-years-old.
