He’s back, and he’s at it already.

Jose Mourinho held his first news conference as Manchester United boss on Tuesday, and the ‘Special one’ wasted no time in causing controversy by continuing his verbal tirade on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Mourinho, who was appointed Louis Van Gaal’s successor at Old Trafford back in May, has had a long standing history with the Arsenal boss, and whilst Arsene Wenger has tried to calm claims of animosity between the two, the 52-year-old former Chelsea boss seems to have an obsession with trading insults with his rival, and chose his first ten minutes of his opening Man United presser to once again blast the North London boss, for his managerial record at the Emirates over the last ten years.

“I was never very good hiding behind words and philosophies. I was always much more aggressive in my approach.” Mourinho said.

“There are some managers that the last time they won a title was ten years ago. I won a title a year ago”

The ‘Special one’s’ comments follow the now infamous press conference from 2014, when Mourinho described Wenger as a ‘specialist in failure’, a jibe in reference to Wenger’s perceived invincibility at Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho Smile

Whilst very few are surprised at Mourinho’s inevitable fresh comments regarding the Gunners boss, the timing of such opinions is strange to say the least. The 52-year-old has just taken over one of the biggest clubs in world football and should really be using his first news conference to motivate, and encourage United supporters, not continue his obsession with a Premier League rival.

Whilst there may be plenty of disgruntled Arsenal fans who agree with Mourinho’s sentiments about their manager, it seems that Gunners fans have come out in force to defend Arsene Wenger in light of the Portuguese’s’ recent comments.

Welcome back Jose, you’ve been sorely missed!
