Arsenal contract rebel admits decision on future will come 'soon'
Arsenal star Mesut Ozil says he will come to a decision on his Gunners future “soon”, per Sky Sports.
The 28-year-old has been at the Emirates Stadium since a £42million move from Real Madrid in 2013, and has become a firm fan favourite during that time.
But with his contract running out in 2018 and the club once again struggling in the Premier League this season, speculation has been growing that he could leave the club in the coming months.
While on international duty with Germany, Ozil said he would decide soon whether to stay or not, with boss Arsene Wenger yet to announce his intentions ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the season.
He told newspaper Die Welt: “Do you think Arsene Wenger tells the journalists [about my future] before he tells me? I know him differently,” he said.
“I have a contract until 2018 in London and I feel very comfortable there. We’ll talk soon and then make a decision.”
Despite Arsenal’s current struggles, Ozil does believe he can fulfil all his ambitions in North London.
“My dream is to win the Champions League. Why not with Arsenal? Of course, we just have a difficult time and are not satisfied with sixth place.
“I am convinced, however, that we will catch up again soon. Let’s see what the future holds.”
