Arsenal have 'blank cheque' as they close on £105m trio: Arsene Wenger to spend big and avert fan backlashPublished August 03, 2016
Arsenal are set to conduct a major late transfer window spending spree with The Sun claiming that Arsene Wenger is on course to clinch the signings of three top talents according to The Sun.
This source claims that Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez has already agreed a deal to move to the North London club.
The 25-year-old Algerian international racked up 17 goals and 11 assists in Premier League action alone last term, helping the Foxes to a shock title and earning a PFA Player of the Year award in the process.
It’s thought that such a move will set the Gunners back around £40m.
Arsenal are set to spend a similar sum to land Lyon goal-machine Alexandre Lacazette as Wenger seeks to resolve a long standing problem area.
For the last few seasons Wenger has had to rely upon Olivier Giroud for the finishing touches in and around the box and whilst the fan favourite hasn’t been a flop it’s fair to say the French international has not been prolific either.
Lacazette has racked up 54 goals over the course of the past two seasons and narrowly missed out on a spot in Didier Deschamps’ Euro 2016 squad.
Finally Wenger will look to complete the capture of £25m rated German international Shkodran Mustafi as he looks to solidify a back-line that will be minus crocked veteran Per Mertesacker for the first few months of the upcoming campaign.
Arsenal are said to have failed with an opening £15m bid with the 24-year-old with Valencia said to want £35m for the former Sampdoria and Everton man but it’s believed that a deal will be finalised before the transfer window slams shut.
